This 7-day tour starts in the coastal resort of Agadir, we collect you from either the airport or your accommodation and drive south to the city of silver; Tiznit. After a visit, we drive up into the Atlas Mountains and enjoy a lunch break before reaching the picturesque town of Tafraoute. This oasis amongst the rugged mountains with its colourful buildings is a real picture postcard location, and this is where you will spend the night with half board.

After breakfast at your hotel, we leave Tafraoute and drive the 7km to the Ameln Valley where you can enjoy a walk in the valley. We then continue to Tazegzaoute Gorge; known as “the enchanted valley” for a picnic or perhaps lunch with a local family before continuing towards Tata to spend the night in a hotel with half board.

We start early today for our desert immersion; this is a region of diverse desert landscapes, dry salt lakes and rugged mountains leading on to the soft hues of the dunes and eventually to Erg Chegaga. Lunch will be in Foum Zguid and from there we go off-road to the day salt lake of Iriqui and then to the dunes of Chegaga with their peaceful ambience and welcoming silence. This is a wonderful place to witness the end of the day with a Sahara sunset. We descend then to our nomadic camp for the night, dinner and Berber music and a vast starlit sky to gaze at will be waiting for you with welcome arms and mint tea of course.

We recommend that you try and get up early to watch the sunrise as it is a special time of the day, the silence of the desert is magical and the experience is immense. After the sunrise, breakfast is served at the bivouac before we take the off-road drive across the desert to M´hamid el Ghizlane where you can relax, take a shower and have lunch in the hotel. We then depart for the town of Tamegroute to visit its Quranic library and old Kasbah before taking the road for Zagora. We leave the Draa Valley and take the road for Nkob which has many beautiful kasbahs, you will have time to wander around as you will spend the night here with half board.

We leave Nkob after breakfast and take the road for Tazarine and Alnif; on one side you have the mountains that separate Morocco from Algeria and on the other the black volcanic mountains of Saghro, home to the ancient Ait Atta Berber tribe. We take a lunch break in Alnif and then we cross this region to the Dades Valley and up into the Todra Gorge passing adobe Berber villages, kasbahs and verdant fertile valleys. You will be able to discover this picturesque canyon with its glacial river and unique geology. The night will be spent here in a hotel with half board.

After breakfast we leave this gorge and drive to the next one; Dades Gorge, unique with its crazy rock formations. Then we drive along the green valley of the Dades River; home to the Damascus rose which is cultivated in fields along this valley for processing into the exquisite rose oil so highly prized. The Rose Valley is aptly named also for its rose-coloured earth and kasbahs. We take a lunch break and then continue to the palm grove of Skoura where we stop to visit the Amredil Kasbah. The next stop is the Hollywood of Africa; Ouarzazate and the famous ksar of Ait Benhaddou. This UNESCO heritage site is best known for its use in movies such as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven and the Prince of Persia. We continue driving up through the High Atlas and spend the night at a hotel with a fabulous view over the valley.

You can have a relaxing morning, enjoy breakfast on the hotel terrace and wonder at the life unfolding below, the villagers out in their fields, tending their animals, likely a way of life unchanged for generations. There will be time for a short hike before we take the mountain road to Marrakech over the high pass of Tizi n´Tichka at 2260 metres altitude. All this mountain air makes you hungry so we will take a lunch break in a typical mountain restaurant and then drive to the plains of Haouz and the medina of Marrakech to arrive in mid-afternoon
