Your Marrakech to Fes desert tour 3-days starts with a pick up around 08:00 AM from your hotel/riad or anywhere you’re in Marrakesh. Leave the city, driving southeast through the High Atlas mountains where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of traditional Berber villages, as you’ll stop in some panoramic sights for pictures. Stop for lunch in Ait Ben Haddou village, here you’ll also visit the ancient and portentous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. The Kasbah or let’s say the “fortified village” has been protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1987, it’s a location where many famous movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, Babel, and Gladiator have been filmed. After a short drive to Ouarzazate, you’ll stop to see the largest studio in Africa, it’s optional to visit it from inside. Then head to Boumalne, passing the Valley of Roses on the way. You can choose to visit the Rock formations (Called monkey fingers) in Dades Valley before heading to your accommodation or visit it the day after. Total driving distance: Around 353 km. Total driving time: Around six and a half hours.
After a tasty breakfast, we’ll drive to Tinghir where we’ll stop in an impressive viewpoint to an incredible oasis full of palm trees and many kasbahs. You’ll have an opportunity to walk under the great Canyon of Todgha, which was cut by the Todgha River. The gorge is 300 meters deep. When we arrive in Merzouga, your luggage will be taken by a 4×4 vehicle to your camp while you’re going on a camel trek. Watch brilliantly red and orange sunset over the Erg Chebbi. Spend an unforgettable night in the Sahara desert with locals, playing drums, sharing stories, and watching a starry sky. Total driving distance: Around 275 km. Total driving time: Around four hours.
An early start this morning is rewarded with a tranquil and gorgeous sunrise. After a delicious breakfast in the camp, you can choose to leave the camp by camel trekking back or by a 4×4 vehicle. Leave Merzouga, driving to Fez. On the way, you’ll stop in a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley, the valley is full of palm trees and some villages. In the Cedar forest of the Middle Atlas, you may see some Barbary Apes, they’re one of the few species to live in a cold climate. Stop in Ifrane city for a break and a coffee, the city is called the Switzerland of Morocco. The Marrakech to Fez desert tour will finish in Fez at your accommodation in the late evening.
